A mum and dad will say a heartbreaking final goodbye to their only child today after he was killed in a freak traffic accident.

Callum Dale, who has Asperger’s Syndrome, was killed after he ran out of his home in Buncrana on Thursday evening.
The 13 year old’s father Peter and mother Deirdre ran after the boy in a bid to try and get him to return to their home at Straboe, Buncrana.
However Callum sat in the road and was struck by an oncoming car at Cockhill Bridge as he dad Peter, 51, tried to persuade him off the road.
Peter was also struck by the car and is in a critical condition at Letterkenny General Hospital.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening however.
The boy’s mum Deirdre saw her husband and son being mowed down and was sent into a state of shock.
Friends and family of the heartbroken couple have rallied to their aid as Callum is buried today.
The young boy, a student at Crana College, will be buried after 2pm mass at St Mary’s Church in Cockhill.
Gardai have again appealed to pedestrians who they believe were in the area at the time of the freak accident to come forward.
“We know that there were three pedestrians in the area just before the incident and they may have seen something which will be vital to our investigation.
“We would ask them and anybody else who was in the area around 10.30pm on Wednesday night to come forward,” said Inspector Eugene McGovern.
Meanwhile the woman who struck Callum and his dad is also being treated for shock.
Her own sister was killed on the same road more than 20 years ago.
Local town councillor Ciaran McLaughlin praised the quick actions of the emergency services.
“They were on the scene within minutes and were so professional. There was simply nothing they could do.
“Our thoughts and prayers are now with Callum’s family,” he said.
