The Emergency Department at flood-hit Letterkenny General Hospital will re-open to patients on Wednesday 12 March at 8am.
The hospital was severely damaged by torrential rain last July.
The HSE estimates that it will cost €40million to repair the damage and upgrade the hospital.
At one stage up to 70% of the floor space of the hospital was under water.
An independent report by a team of civil engineers is being carried out into the cause of the flood.
Mr Sean Murphy, General Manager, Letterkenny General Hospital said the hospital is looking forward to welcoming paients back.
“I would like to advise all patients that the work to rebuild the Emergency Department and the Acute Medical Assessment Unit following the flood last July has been completed and both Departments will re-open next Wednesday.
“We are looking forward to welcoming patients back to these areas of the hospital on Wednesday 12 March. I would like to thank our patients for their co-operation throughout the rebuild programme”.
