Gardai are hunting a gang who wrecked a house and stole two shotguns and a hunting knife from a house on the outskirts of Newtowncunningham.burglar

The raiders broke into the empty house at Rooskey yesterday afternoon and pulled a gun cabinet off the wall.

The owner of the house, whose son in a keen hunter, arrived back in the afternoon to find the house ransacked.

A substantial amount of money was also taken which was being saved by a young man in the house for a function.

A farmer in the area who was spreading slurry noticed a man in a hoodie acting suspiciously in the area at the time.

Gardai are now looking for the movements of a blue or green car with possibly a Northern Ireland registration in the area at the time.
