A 20-year-old man charged in connection with a 60km chase across County Donegal has been given bail.
However Martin Stokes was subsequently sent to Castlrea prison because of 36 outstanding arrest warrants against him.
Stokes, with addresses in Sligo and at 122 Cornshell Fields, Steelstown, Derry, appeared before Sligo District Court because of the outstanding warrants against him.
He faced a total of 25 dangerous driving charges allegedly detected by Garda officers who pursued a Nissan Primera from Ardara to Letterkenny on Wednesday.
The alleged offences were detected at townlands across a 60km route.
The court heard from Garda Elaine Kavanagh, from Glenties Garda Station, that Stokes was also facing 11 other charges in connection with the alleged incident including failing to stop for members of An Garda Siochana and hit-and-run allegations.
Traffic Corps Garda Paul McGee gave evidence of arresting Stokes in Letterkenny yesterday evening.
Judge Kevin Kilrane set bail at €1,000 with an independent surety of €1,000.
Stokes was remanded to appear again at Letterkenny District Court next Monday.
However he was taken into custody to Castlerea because of the outstanding bench warrants.
