A second public meeting to formalise plans to protect pensioners in their homes in the Manorcunningham and surrounding areas is to be held this Wednesday.
More than 1,500 gathered for the first meeting two weeks ago.
Angry campaigners heard how the elderly were ‘sitting ducks’ in their homes because of a lack of Garda resources.
Pledges amounting to €10,000 were made on the night for information leading to a gang who have been terrorising pensioners in their own homes in recent weeks.
Victims of crime told their touching stories of how their lives have been changed forever after they were burgled.
Now a concrete plan to protect those pensioners will be unveiled on Wednesday night at the Manor Resource Centre at 9pm.
Organiser Tony Morning told Donegal Daily that a huge amount of work has been done since the first meeting.
“There was a lot of anger at that first meeting and I for one do not apologise for it,” he said.
“People may have said that things were said that should not have been said but they had to be said.
“I visited the victims of some of these crimes and it made my blood boil.
“But from that anger we are formulating a plan to protect these people,” said Mr Morning.
Among the plan is the purchase of alarm and sensor lights for the elderly as well as the introduction of a text-alert scheme.
Everyone is invited to Wednesday night’s meeting.
The text-alert scheme is already being rolled out in Glenties.
