Buncrana GAA Notes for Week Ending Sunday 9th February 2014
Unfortunately Buncrana came up short in their Round 2 match against St Mary’s Slaughtmanus in the Quinns Corner Ulster Club Intermediate Football League Group C. The final score was 3-13 v 1-4. Buncrana now sit in mid-table on 1 point, 3 behind the joint leaders Dungannon and Slaughtmanus. Better luck in their Round 3 game which is away to Dungannon at 12pm next Sunday 16th February.
Scor na nOg
Counting down to the big day for our talented team from the the club! Anyone who would like to order tickets for the Scor na nOg National Final in Castlebar on March 1st should contact Grainne the Club Secretary at secretary.buncrana.donegal@gaa.ie or 0864650200. Tickets cost €20 each. A bus will be travelling on Saturday 1st March and some places are available but you should book ASAP otherwise they will be gone. Good luck to the kids and their director Patricia Tinney Doherty.
Membership registration
Registration nights were held last Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday night. If you or your child is a player/coach it is of upmost importance that you are registered for insurance purposes.
If you are not a playing member but wish to be considered for Donegal tickets throughout the season you must be registered by March.
NB:- membership does not guarantee match tickets and only adult members can be considered for ticket allocation. First Aid Course After the successful completion of the First Aid course we are now taking names for a second course. The course numbers are limited to 10-12 people, and it is highly recommended for anyone, even as a refresher course. The group who completed it the first course were really pleased with it and how much they learned. Once numbers are confirmed we will organise times and dates. Course fee is €40.

Seniors, Minors, Under 21’s and Reserves Hurling & Football training this week, Wednesday 7.30pm and Friday 7.30pm. All players are urged to make every effort to attend.
U14 Football and Hurling training continues this week Monday & Thursday 6.30 & 7.45. Full attendance required as the first matches begin soon.
Bord na nOg meeting to take place in the Scarvey, Monday night 10th February@ 8.30pm sharp.
U10 & U12 Inishowen workshop continues in the Buncrana Youth Club on Thursday night @ 7pm. Anyone who is involved with these age groups should make every effort to attend.
Under 12 Hurling Another great Sunday morning for the team who played in the Noth West Regional Indoor Hurling in the Aileach Hall, Burnfoot. They had a clean sweep, winning all of their games. Caolan O’Neill, Liam O’Doherty and Oisin Kelly scored some great points. Gavin Deehan, James O’Hagan, John Jackson and Ruairi McDaid showed great determination in all the games. This means we are on our way to the final next Sunday. Well done boys!

U12/10 Hurling cancelled for the next 2 weeks due to Mock
U12 Football to resume Monday 10th February 7-8pm.
Under-age Girls Football Monday night 7 – 8pm.
Bring boots, water bottle & gum shield; girls to be on the pitch for 7. No gum shield, no training. Gum shields will be available at all registration nights next week. Any queries contact 0863340965

GAA Dinner Dance Time to start saving for one last big night out before Lent…it’s the Club Annual Dinner Dance. Tickets on sale now, contact any committee member. Dancing to Off the Rails, eating to you’re fit to bust and drinking in moderation, if at all! Set the date in your diary, Friday 22nd February in the Inishowen Gateway.
Eamon McMenamin Fundraisers The Club is hosting a Coffee Morning in memory of Eamon McMenamin on Friday 28th February from 10am-2pm in O’Flahertys bar. All money raised will go towards the Oncology Unit in Letterkenny General Hospital. Please note that the Coffee Morning is on the same day as the quiz organised by the McLaughlin family in the Malin Hotel later that night, 9pm startt. It would be a nice way to mark Eamon’s passing if you could call into O’Flaherty’s that morning and have a wee coffee in his memory.
Buncrana GAA Lotto
The jackpot wasn’t won this week as there was no draw due to unforeseen events.
Their fellow club members would like to thank David Guilfoyle & Stephen McLafferty for collecting the Lotto last Saturday. Husband and wife team Angela and Brendan Ryan will collect next Saturday night (15th February), so be sure to support them generously. Hopefully Brenday will remember that the day before is Valentines Day!
