A well-known Fianna Fail member in Bundoran says any council money left in the town must be spent on its people.
Fianna Fáil National Executive member Claudia Kennedy is seeking a nomination to run in the 2014 Donegal Electoral Area county council election.
She said money that the council has left to spend, before its abolition, must leave a lasting legacy to those who have supported the council, down the years.
“As a second level teacher I am very much aware of the necessity of providing a dedicated building/Youth Centre with resources, facilities, and an opportunity for our young people to be provided with a suitable building. The youth are our future, we must provide and support our young people.
“The need for a community centre in Bundoran, has also been a long running issue but now is the time to get things sorted before the opportunity passes us by,” she said.
“In every town and rural small village I visit around Donegal, there is always a wonderful community centre available for everyone to use for meetings, dance classes, senior citizen groups, youth clubs, etc.
“It is quite disappointing and sad we do not have such facilities in Bundoran. Now is the time to direct that funding to such worthy initiatives.”
She also said that a clear and identifiable role for the future of the Bundoran Town Council Building must be moved forward.
“Every family in the Bundoran area will gain in a positive manner from this initiative,” she said.
