LETTERKENNY Blaze U-18s boys team fell short in their bid to win a first All-Ireland basketball title.
The Co Donegal side – with twins Cian and Tagh Hickey leading the charge – gave Dubliners Templeogue a real battle in the national final in the capital today.
Roared on by a huge fan base the Letterkenny boys did their best, staying in touch throughout – going into the second and third quarters just two scores behind.
But they found Templeogue’s Sean Flood in stunning form, scoring 30 of his side’s 57 points and the Dubliner’s finally won by nine points.
So it’s a silver medal for Letterkenny Blaze.
But the boys can travel home to Donegal with their head held high.
The final score was Templeogue 57, LK Blaze, 48.
