GARDAI have launched an investigation after the death of a woman at a hotel.
The pensioner was found dead in the pool area at Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey on Wednesday.
Staff and onlookers went to her aid but she was later pronounced dead at the scene despite their valiant efforts.
A post mortem is being carried out to establish the cause of death.
Gardaí are carrying out an investigation as part of normal procedures for the county coroner but the death is not being treated as suspicious.
The lady who died was Galway-born Oonagh Quinn, from Melmount in Strabane.
The 79-year-old was well-known and well respected in the Border town community where she had worked for many years as a teacher at Our Lady of Mercy secondary school.
“She was a lovely woman who was loved by all who knew her,” said a family friend.
