Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision at Churchtown, Carndonagh, Co. Donegal last night.
Shortly before 6pm local woman Maura Porter (70) was struck by a car whilst out walking just 150 metres from her home.
Ms Porter received serious head injuries and was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital where she died shortly before midnight.
The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was not injured.
The scene in sealed off and Garda forensic collision investigators are carrying out an examination of the area.
Gardai in Carndonagh are appealing for information on the incident.
It’s understood Ms Porter, who regularly walked the road, was struck whilst on the road – opposite the footpath where she normally walked.
She is the 13th person to die on Donegal’s roads this year.
