The forecaster has issued an unusual STATUS ORANGE warning.
The Wind Warning is for Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal.
“South to southwest winds will increase 60 to 80 km/h and gust 100 to 120 km/h., later Wednesday afternoon and evening, in exposed coastal areas of Connacht and Donegal,” said Met Eireann.
The alert was issued at 8pm this evening and is valid from 3pm tomorrow, Wednesday until midnight tomorrow….a total of nine hours.
Hurricane-force winds WILL hit Donegal despite claims we won’t see such powerful wind gusts.
A less severe storm is hitting Donegal this evening.
Strong southerly winds will gust over 100km/h along parts of the west and northwest coasts.
