LIGHTNING STORM CAUSES POWER OUTAGES ACROSS DONEGAL

Several parts of Donegal have been affected by power outages tonight following a thunder and lightning storm.Lighting of Aran Mor island last night From McDevitt Chimney Sweep

Seventeen premises are without power in the Srathmairtin area of Derrybeg, while 46 premises have no supply in the Lettermacaward area.

In the Creeslough area 160 premise are without power since before 9pm.

ESB crews are on location and hope to have power restored in the Derrybeg and Lettermacaward areas just before midnight, and in the Cresslough area shortly after midnight.

Large hail showers in the Rosses and Gweedore areas tonight have left some roads white in several areas.

And with temperatures plunging towards -3 in some places, Donegal County Council has warned motorists to be careful.
