With the assistance of the public, the Gardaí are now following a definite line of enquiry and will be liaising closely with the Australian Police and the HSE to finalise the matter.
A spokesman said: “Gardaí wish to sincerely thank the public and the media for their assistance. They also wish to inform them that no further assistance is required at this time.”
The breakthrough came just eight hours after Gardaí went public with a photograph of a girl found in Dublin.
Gardaí had thought she was around 15, but now believe she is 19 and relatives in Australia have been informed.
