He may have been beaten in the World Championship Final but Jason Quigley has been ranked number one in the world.
The Ballybofey man joins the man who beat him, Zhanibek Alimkhanuly from Kazakhstan, at top of the middleweight rankings.
The ratings see the 22 year old Finn Valley boxer jump six places from when he went into the world championships two weeks ago.
Although beaten by Alimkhanuly, many suggest Jason could beat the gold medalist if the pair meet again.
Quigley went into the fight having boxed the previous day in his tough semi-final bout while his opponent had a three day rest and got a walkover in the semi-final.
Jason’s proud dad Conor put out a message of Facebook declaring his son was number one in the world.
The Finn Valley boxer’s ultimate aim will be to box for Ireland at the Olympic Games in Brazil in 2016
But there is the question of retaining his senior crown and boxing for his country before then.
