Donegal County Council has initiated proceedings against customers who have not responded or made any meaningful attempt to address the arrears on their account.
Over the past two weeks, non domestic water supplies have been disconnected or restrictions and arrears accounts have been referred to a third party debt collection agency for collection.
This course of action is planned to continue up to the end of this year with a number of further supplies being earmarked for disconnection/restriction in the coming weeks.
Mr. Garry Martin, Director of Services said this action is not taken lightly.
“However, we have been left with little option but to proceed with imposing these restrictions or disconnections. In tandem with this approach accounts were forwarded to an external debt collection agency”.
To avoid any of these actions, the Council appeals to all users of a non-domestic water supply to ensure that all outstanding bills are paid immediately.
The Council thanked all the customers who do pay their bills when they become due and who actively engage with the Council to comply with their obligations to pay non domestic water charges.
