Senator Jimmy Harte has welcomed the news in the Budget that the 9% VAT rate on the hospitality trade is to be retained.
The Letterkenny politician said this was particularly good news for Donegal.
“I raised this issue personally with Minister Howlin and emphasised the importance on tourism in Donegal.
“I called for this 3 weeks ago and was contacted by many hoteliers and restaurateurs in the county since.
“I’m now delighted to see that good sense has prevailed and the tourist industry on Donegal can continue to work hard without this worry. It’s good news and positive outcome from today’s budget,” he said.
