Daniel O’Donnell has revealed that himself and brave wife Majella met her cancer battle head-on by pressing ahead with holiday plans.
Majella captured the hearts of the nation when she appeared on the Late Late Show to have her hair shaved for the Irish Cancer Society.
Now singer Daniel has revealed how they went about fighting the disease by living life to the full including booking a holiday.
“The one thing the doctors told us was to live life as normal as possible and do all the things she felt up to.
“Prior to her diagnosis we had booked a trip to Rome, Vienna & Budapest, this was to take place on the 23rd of September, 10 days after her first treatment.
“Thankfully she was well enough to go and we had a great time,” he said.
Daniel revealed that Majella has now managed to raise more than €575,000 after appearing alongside Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy.
And the Donegal entertainer said his wife is continuing to have more treatment.
“She’s had her second round of chemotherapy although the treatment is very tough she is staying really positive and in good spirits.
“I would like to thank you for your good wishes & prayers. And Majella especially asked me to say how touched she is with all of your kind thoughts.”
He added that he still feels guilty about touring abroad but Majella has instead the show must go on.
“From my point of view it’s been difficult touring all the time and not being able to be with her. But Majella was adamant that I would continue doing the shows.”
