Tobin’s Topaz/SPAR Express in Letterkenny has cleaned up at the National Q Mark Awards, scooping Best Forecourt for Hygiene and Food Safety in Ireland for 2013.
Proud store owner Eddie Tobin beat off stiff competition to come top in his category.
The National Q Mark Awards are known as the Oscars of Irish business, with thousands of companies fighting it out every year to be short-listed for the honours.
The Award for Best Forecourt for Hygiene and Food Safety is considered one of the toughest categories to win, but Eddie said it was all thanks to his hard-working team and loyal customers.
He said: “This was a real team effort, and I’d like to thank everyone involved. Winning such a prestigious award shows how deeply committed we are at Tobin’s Topaz/SPAR Service Station to hygiene and food standards, and it would never have been possible without the hard work and dedication of everyone on the team.
“I’d also like to thank all our valued customers. We are committed to maintaining our award-winning standards and providing all our customers with the very best shopping experience.”
It was three in a row for the award-winning store, who also scooped the Best Forecourt prize in 2011 and 2012.
Tobin’s SPAR Express Service Station is a family run business which employs 32 people.
Sale & Retailer Advisory Services Director Malachy Hanberry said: “Food safety is the cornerstone of everything we do at SPAR. The EIQA awards are known as the independently assessed standards for food retailing in Ireland, which is why we’re so pleased for Eddie and all his team.
“Their achievement is a testament to the commitment to food safety and customer service that is the hallmark of the SPAR group.”
To top off the night deli staff member Anne Marie Daly won the top prize in the draw on the night in aid of St. Vincent De Paul of a walk on part for two people on Fair City!!
