Glenea United 1 Cranford United 1
Glenea got their home league programme underway with this draw. The home side playing with the breeze dominated from the beginning of the game and took the lead on 15 minutes when after some quick passes Michael Barry floated a ball in for Ryan McFadden to slot the ball home. Glenea pushed hard for the 2nd goal and came close on a couple of occasions through efforts from Sean Mc Bride, Denis Boyle and Darren Mc Geever. The 2nd half followed the pattern of the 1st with the home side on top but unable to extend their lead and they were made to pay on 75 minutes when Philip Buchanan got down the right and pulled the ball to the far post where Hugh McBride was on hand to score with Cranford’s first effort on goal. Glenea pushed hard for a winner and were denied when Denis Boyle’s free-kick was saved by the away keeper and right on full time Kevin Mulhern saw his effort the edge of the box just slide past the post. Best for Glenea were Kevin McFadden and Denis Boyle while it was a team effort from Cranford
Referee: Joe McHugh
Gweedore Celtic 3 Curragh Athletic 1
A brace of goals by Fionnan Diver gave the home side a deserved victory. Curragh took the lead on twenty minutes with a ball in from the wing being finished by Ryan Carlin. Gweedore were back on terms on the half hour with Johnny Mc Ginty heading home from a corner.
The second half was a close affair with the defences on top. Ten minutes into the second half Colin Ferry carried the ball down the wing before crossing for Fionnan Diver to hammer home from close range. On seventy minutes Jamie Boyle played him in and Diver again found the target. Diver was unlucky not to claim a hat-trick when he shot over the bar following a flowing attacking move. Best for Gweedore were Diver, Jamie Boyle and Paul Rua McBride. A team performance from Curragh. Referee: Kevin Logue
Kilmacrennan Celtic 2 Donegal Town 1
Kilmacrennan pick up their first three points of the season after a deserved win against newly promoted Donegal Town. The home side started the game well and Kieran Doherty was proving to be a real threat to the Donegal defence as they struggled to cope with his physical threat. The opening goal arrived on the twenty minute mark when Liam McBride finished coolly after good work from John ‘Rab’ Sandilands. The visitors soon found the back of the Kilmac net however when Clint Walsh reacted quickest to a wayward goal kick and played David Harron through on goal. Harron made no mistake to level things for the first half.
Kilmac bossed large majorities of the second half thanks to the commanding presence of birthday boy Shaun Sandilands and veteran Darren Toland at the heart of the Kilmac defence. With Johnny Doherty and Aidan Friel attacking at every opportunity Kilmac looked the more likely to score. Kilmac should have been out of sight by the hour mark however Michael McLaughlin, Kieran Doherty, and Eddie Doherty failed to hit the target. The winning goal arrived with ten minutes remaining when McLaughlin supplied Aidan Friel who slotted past Mc Cafferty in the Donegal net. Best for Kilmac were Johnny Doherty and Kieran Doherty. Clint Walsh and David Harron best for Donegal Town. Referee: Joe Duffy.
St. Catherines 1 Milford United 7
Milford United took an early lead in this match when Lee Boyd toe poked the ball past Ronan O’ Gara in the St. Catherine’s net. The advantage was doubled when Joey Cullen rose unchallenged at the back post to head home Boyd’s right wing cross. The home side pulled a goal back after twenty minutes and immediately afterwards should have equalised but the Milford Keeper was equal to the shot from close range. Encouraged by their impressive start the visitors went on to score another five times without reply. It’s two wins from two for Noel Gillespie’s men while Brian Dorrian’s young troops are still searching for their first league victory. The Moyle View men will be hard to beat this season and surely this young St. Catherines side will learn as the season progresses and look like a team for the years ahead. Referee: Liam Farren

Gweedore United 3 Bonagee United 0
Gweedore United got their new league campaign off to a perfect start in glorious conditions at Carrickboyle. The home side took the lead in the 19th minute when Darren Ferry’s free kick found Ciaran Mc Fadden and Mc Fadden turned to finish well from 18 yards into the bottom corner leaving John Carr in the Bonagee nets with no chance. The game continued to be open with both defences doing well and it remained 1-0 until the interval. In the second half Bonagee began the brighter but they couldn’t find a way through a good Gweedore backline. As the game went on it was end to end stuff and Carl Duggan and Kevin Mc Hugh came close, however Liam Mc Fadden in the United nets did well on each occasion. Michael Connolly put the home side two up in the 80th minute following a great through pass from Matthew Byrne which Connolly neatly finished. Two minutes later the home side made it 3-0, this time following good work by Hugh Martin Curran who put Connolly through to get his second. Bonagee continued to push and seen good chances fall to Carl Duggan and Odhran Grant however it just wasn’t their day. In what was a good game of passing football Carl Duggan and Kevin Mc Hugh excelled for Bonagee with a great team effort from Gweedore with Micheal Connolly man of the match on the day. Referee: Mick Lagan.

Castlefin Celtic 3 Lagan Harps 3
With not even a minute on the clock Lagan opened the scoring with Ross Hamlyn finding the net. Fifteen minutes later Lagan doubled their lead when James Gillen found himself one on one with the Castlefin keeper and he finished well to make it 2-0 to Lagan. Castlefin now looked to get back into the game but the Lagan keeper Michael Toner made two fine saves. They pulled a goal back when a Ronan Tourish cross into the box found Damien Mc Anenny and he headed home in 27th minute. Colin Carlin was then fouled in the box. Emmet White stepped up to drill home from the penalty spot.
At the start of the second half Lagan took the lead again when Shane Kelly scored. Both teams looked for another goal with the woodwork denying Castlefin’s best efforts from JP Malley and Emmet White. Castlefin however managed to get a late equaliser when Dylan White was brought down in the Lagan box. Emmet White again stepped up to beat the keeper and get his second from the spot to leave it 3-3. Referee: Victor Rainey. Best for Castlefin: Emmet White and Colin Carlin. Best for Lagan: Michael Toner
Drumoghill F.C. 2 Dunkineely Celtic 0
Drumoghill FC continued their excellent opening to their campaign with this hard earned victory over Dunkineely Celtic. Liam O’Donnell and Kevin Kelly were the match winners on the day but Ronan Gibson and John Madigan in defence were just as vital to the securing of the points. After a lively star, it was Drumoghill who opened the scoring on 15 minutes. The architect was Michael Doherty whose run down the left took him past Cassidy to the bye-line and there was Liam O’Donnell to head beyond Donal Murrin at the back post. Chances were few and far between thereafter although Kevin Kelly was unlucky to see his 47th minute strike shave the post. Dunkineely searched in vain for an equaliser and were always a threat through Conaghan, but their pursuit of a leveller meant they were always vulnerable to the counter attack and they were caught on the break through Kevin Kelly, who drove home to seal the points.
For Drumoghill it was another 3 points and clean sheet, whilst Dunkineely look to have enough promise to threaten an immediate return to the top flight.

Copany Rovers 3 Ballybofey United 1
This was a closely contested hard fought match played at a fast pace. The deadlock was broken in the 17th minute with a free kick on the edge of the box taken by David Graham and headed home by Roger Leonard. Copany extended their lead in the 53rd minute when Roger fed David Graham down the wing and he crossed to the back post for Glen Harron to tap in. Ballybofey pulled one back on the 61st minute but Copany killed the game off in the 81st minute with a goal from Pauric Rooney. Good team efforts from both sides.
Glenree United 0 Deele Harps 1
Glenree got off to the better start with Damien Nelis coming close from 25 yards. Both teams passed the ball well but neither could create a clear opening before half-time. The major turning point in the game came 5 minutes into the second half when a through ball was handled by Glenree Keeper John Cunningham just outside the box. He was swiftly sent off and Glenree scrambled to re-arrange the team. Despite their 10 men Glenree fought hard and limited Deele to only one chance, which they scored from. A cross from the wing was headed home perfectly by Seamus Mullen. Glenree almost restored parity 20 minutes before full time but Robert Moore’s volley from Marty Mc Laughlin’s through ball went just wide. Deele defended well to the end and held out for the three points.
Whitestrand United 2 Drumbar F.C. 0
On a fine autumn afternoon Whitestrand United entertained Drumbar FC at Whitestrand Park. The game started off with a bang as with less than two minutes on the clock Paul Lynch opened the scoring with a header. The game went to half time with the White Strand leading 1-0.
The Second half began in a similar vein to the first with Paul Lynch scoring early. Defensively the Strand were looking solid with Eamon Martin and Sean Barrett both playing very well. This was good performances all over the pitch from the Strand with Paul Lynch scoring twice, Drumbar FC put in a solid performance. Referee: Gerry Rodden
Raphoe Town 1 Convoy Arsenal 2
Raphoe went a goal up through Mark Bogle when he got on the end of a great move involving Stephen Craig, Jamie Gallagher and Ryan Mc Cullagh. Raphoe kept pressing and should have added to their tally but the Convoy goalkeeper was having an inspired afternoon with a string of fine saves. Raphoe let Convoy back into it when they gave away a penalty which Darren Harvey dispatched. The second half belonged to the young Convoy goalkeeper who was stopping everything Raphoe threw at him saving from Paddy Gallagher and Ryan Mc Cullagh. But as the saying goes it’s a funny old game, Convoy broke and Melaugh scored against the run of play. Best for Convoy was young Boyd in goals. Decent team effort from Raphoe. Referee: John Mc Glanaghey

Castlefin Celtic Reserves 4 Glenea United Reserves 3
Played in glorious weather conditions at Park View it was an even affair for most of the first half as both teams failed to take their chances. Glenea made the breakthrough in the 44th minute when Tommy Rodgers found himself in the clear and he drilled the ball past the Castlefin keeper. Rodgers then made it 0-2 to Glenea on the stroke of half time when he got his head to a corner kick.
Castlefin pulled one back on the hour when a James McMenamin free kick found Marcus Curran who converted. The home side levelled in the 70th minute. A Peter Bryson ball from the back line found Marcus Curran. Again he applied the final touch. Castlefin took the lead 2 minutes later from a James McMenamin shot that beat the Glenea keeper. Glenea levelled the game once more when the Castlefin defence failed to clear the ball and Kevin McFadden ran through to make it 3-3 on 74 minutes. Both teams went looking for a winner. Castlefin managed to take all 3 points courtesy of an 89th minute winner. Referee: Brian O’ Kane. Best for Castlefin: Darren Bogan. Best for Glenea: Tommy Rodgers
Fintown Harps AFC 1 St. Catherines Reserves 2
In a hard fought game at Pairc Acla both teams created some early chances. Mc Brearty went close on ten minutes for St Catherine’s and Darragh Gallagher did likewise for Harps on 15 minutes. St. Catherine’s broke the deadlock in the 25th minute with Mc Brearty finding the net after a break from defence. They went two up when Luke Kelly finished a good move with a great strike. Harps got a penalty just before half time but Gallagher’s strike was saved. Harps with it all to do pulled one back early in the second half. Harps then pushed for the equaliser but to no avail. Good team performances from both sides. Referee: Charlie Crerand
Mulroy Celtic 0 Erne Wanderers 5
Played in perfect conditions both teams were missing a few players on the day but the away side went away with a comfortable three points. They pressed high from the off and took the lead inside twenty minutes when a shot from Dermot Slevin from outside the area took a big deflection and wrong footed the keeper. They doubled their lead when poor defensive play allowed Cian Dolan to sweep the ball home. The game was effectively over before half time when the away side struck again through Mark Dorrian. The second started a little better for the home side with home debutant Mark Carr showing a bit of confidence on ball and trying a few long range efforts. But in truth Erne were still well in control and added their fourth and fifth goals through another from Slevin and the fifth a goal of beauty when Michael Mc Neely caught the Mulroy keeper way out of his goals and he floated a perfectly weighted shot into the net from all of forty yards. Best for the home side were Dougie and Sonic. Away sides spine Dorrian, Slevin and Spudy excelled throughout.
Orchard F.C. 3 Ramelton Mariners 1
Orchard started off the stronger team and on 15 minutes they scored the first goal of the game through a solo effort from Niall Bonner. The Mariners settled after this and through good team play got back on level terms when Joe Coyle finished off a well worked move 10 minutes later. Mariners were now playing the better football and Orchard had a man sent off. This seemed to boost the Orchard’s performance level and a minute before half time they regained the lead when Niall Bonner latched onto a loose ball in the Mariners half and ran on to score another great goal.
The Second half saw both sides creating chances with no reward. As the Mariners pushed for the equaliser in the dying minutes of the game Bonner, on the counterattack, outpaced the Mariners central defender to complete his hat-trick. Man of the match Niall Bonner.
Glencar Inn Saturday Division Two
Arranmore United 3 Gweedore United Reserves 0
Arranmore ran out 3-0 winners in their 1st home outing of the season. The first half was even with both teams going close several times. In the second half Danny Rodgers set up Gavin Mc Glanaghy who fired home. Ten minutes later it was two with Daniel O’ Donnell Mc Glanaghey’s provider on this occasion. Gweedore always looked dangerous from set pieces but Danny Rodgers, Declan Proctor. Michael Mc Hugh and Ruan Reynolds defended well. With 10 minutes to go Mc Glanaghey turned provider when he set up Conor Proctor who completed the scoring. Best for Arranmore were Declan Proctor and Daniel O’ Donnell. In a good team performance Darren Whoriskey played brilliantly for Gweedore United.
Donegal Town Reserves 2 Strand Rovers 1
Donegal Town came out on top in this encounter played in excellent conditions at the Hospital Field. Donegal, who dominated the game for long periods, put the visitors under pressure early on creating several chances. The opening goal came after 20 minutes when Ciarán O’Reilly slipped past two defenders to fire home to the bottom corner from just outside the area. Strand were then presented with a great opportunity when a misplaced pass across goal was latched onto by Darragh Hanlon and the striker made no mistake to level things up. It stayed that way until the break. Donegal pressed forward in numbers and after good work from James Feighney on the right hand side, Ciarán O’Reilly was on hand to finish when Feighney’s effort came back off the ‘keeper. Despite creating a host of chances Donegal were unable to put the game to bed with Nathan Ward and Paul Gerard Duncan both going close on occasions. A game played in a good spirit with solid team performances from both sides.
Tullyvinney Rovers 3 Milford United Reserves 1
This game was played in glorious conditions at the Cross. It was Tullyvinney that started the stronger when Martin Alexander had the ball in the net but he was in an offside position. Then on twenty minutes a kick out from Nigel Hegarty was flicked on by Michael Shiels and was fired home by Martin Alexander. Tullyvinney held this lead going into the final twenty minutes when a through ball was fired home by Christy Mc Cafferty. This goal seemed to spur Tullyvinney on and on seventy minutes they got a free kick thirty yards from goal. Up stepped Steve Devine who fired an unstoppable shot to the back of the net, a goal worthy of winning any game .Then with five minutes left the lively Adam Gardiner took on two Milford players and rounded the keeper to score a great goal. Tullyvinney could have got a fourth goal when a thirty yard pass from A Mc Daid was met on the volley by N Phelan who hit the crossbar with the Milford keeper rooted to the spot . It was a great performance by Tullyvinney with M Alexander , A mc Daid and N Phelan outstanding. Team performance from Milford. Referee: Seamus Mc Groary
Curragh Athletic Reserves 3 Cranford United Reserves 3

Another good move resulted in a cross from Marty Mc Laughlin been expertly converted by Burnsy in the 61st minute. Justin Mc Bride stepped up and calmly sent the Cranford keeper the wrong way. in the Ryan Carlin and Gary Heaney then combined only to see the latter’s powerful header hitting the post. Cranford pushed forward and scored in the 78 minute . They then pushed for a equaliser and were rewarded when a corner was not cleared and the Cranford striker scored from close range.
