A young Letterkenny woman has successfully reached Everest Base Camp in a fundraising trek for charity.
Emer Henderson, 24, from the Glebe in Letterkenny, was among just three of her comrades to reach the camp.
She was part of a group of 9 volunteers trekking for the Suas Educational Development charity.
Struck by altitude sickness, her fellow trekkers had to return down the mountain.
But brave Emer reached the massive 18000ft height point two days ago, and is now on her way back down. She began her 120km round trip a fortnight ago.
Emer raised €1,551 for Suas, an Irish-based charity that supports education projects in Indian and Kenyan communities.
