UNDER 14 GIRLS BECOME COUNTY CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to the U14 girls who defeated St.Eunan’s in a thrilling match last Sunday. The winning margin was only 2 points and the girls took the lead with their last score of the game. Every one of the girls played their hearts out and even with their backs against the wall, they never gave up. On behalf of Aoife O’Hare, Kathy McLaughlin, Jenny Craig and myself (Lynn McGuinness – coach) I would like to thank the girls for all their hard work throughout the summer. Thank you to Davy McLaughlin (club chairman) for organising our home pitches and thanks to the clubs who allowed us to use their facilities while Carrick Field was closed for redevelopment. Thanks also to all the supporters who travelled to the match; your support was fantastic.
MINOR LADIES PROGRESS TO COUNTY SEMI FINAL
Moville 3-08 — St Eunan’s 2-07. Moville progressed to the county semi final after a hard earned but thoroughly deserved win over old rivals, St Eunans in Letterkenny last Friday night. With the scores level at half time at 1-05 apiece it was all to play for in the second half. St Eunan’s started brighter and led early in the second half by four points at one stage but Moville finished the stronger to win by four. Moville used all five substitutes tonight and they were all required in what was a great all round squad performance. It would impossible to single out any individual performance such was the all round performance of the team, but goalkeeper Chloe Moir deserves a mention for her wonder save to keep Moville in the game at a time when Eunan’s were ahead by 3. In fact it proved the turning point in the game as it lifted the Moville team who pushed on from that point to win. Their opponents in the semi final will not be known for a few weeks yet.
SENIOR MEN CONTINUE THEIR FINE RUN OF VICTORIES
In trying weather conditions the Moville senior men team defeated Robert Emmet’s in Castlefin by a score of 0-08 to 0-05. Robert Farren’s men have now won their last nine league games and will hope to continue this momentum with a genuine push for promotion from Division 4 in the remaining games. The next game has not been fixed yet and details will be available on the club’s Facebook page.
UNDERAGE TRAINING
Underage training will resume this Saturday with new times due to pitch development. Gaga for GAA and U6’s will run from 10-11am and U8 and U10 will run from 11-12. Any new players, parents or coaches are more than welcome to get involved. U6 player of week was Freya Harkin; U8 player of week Daithi Peto and U10 was Ronan Farren – well done to all.
