A young Letterkenny woman has set off on a trek to Everest Base Camp to raise funds for Suas Educational Development charity.
NUIG Graduate Emer Henderson, 24, from the Glebe, travelled to Kathmandu on Tuesday with 8 other Suas volunteers.
The climb to Everest Base Camp will take 19 days to complete. The ethnic Sherpa group will lead Emer and her fellow trekkers on the 120km round trip.
Emer will reach elevations from 9000 ft to 18000 ft. She will be hiking for 4 to 10 hours each day.
Emer raised €1551 for Suas, an Irish-based charity that supports education projects in Indian and Kenyan communities.
