Senior Ladies Football: Our ladies team had to travel to Carndonagh to face Urris in their Junior County Championship Semi Final on Sunday. They played in great weather conditions at the Carn pitch, considering the down pours of Saturday. The girls got off to a bit of a shaky start and Urris put 1-02 on the board before Buncrana could find a reply. Once they put the first score on the board, and settled the semi-final nerves, they soon relaxed into the team that they are.
It was mostly point for point in the first half, with some great forward runs from the Urris midfield duo, but the Buncrana defence was able to overcome most of these attacks, and only conceded one goal in this period. However, the accuracy of the Buncrana forwards towards the end of the half had the girls going in at half time 3-6 to 1-5 in the lead.
The Buncrana squad started the much stronger in the second half and took control of the ball for most of the game. There was impressive individual displays from Niamh Connolly and Natasha Craig, but every player who took to the field in a Buncrana jersey played with everything they had, and they all deserve to be in a County Championship final. The girls will now face Naomh Columba of Glencolmcille in the final on Sunday 15th September; venue yet to be confirmed.
Senior Football: Our senior footballers lost out to Termon on Sunday night. Final score 0-7 to 0-14.
Senior Reserve Football: Our reserves face St. Naul’s in the Intermediate Reserver Championship semi-final on Sunday afternoon in Ballybofey. After getting off to a flying start, Buncrana were 0-4 to 0-1 up after 20 minutes following scores from Kevin McLean, Mark McConnell and Kevin Treacy. However St. Naul’s battled their way back into the game to draw level just before half time. St. Naul’s started the second half brightly, registering a point straight from the throw-in. Despite going down to fourteen men, Buncrana battled their way into the lead once again, with scores from Kevin Treacy, Kevin McClean and Oisin O’Flaherty. St. Naul’s were clinical with a number of free kicks in the closing stages of the game and were eventual winners on a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-11.
U21 Football: Under 21 side bowed out of the championship to a strong Aodh Rua side on Wednesday evening. With the entire panel underage for next season and the majority for next 2/3 seasons these lads are destined for better days.

The boys played well against another good team and came out victors 2-7 to 4-6, with Matthew Wilson playing very well and leading the team by example.
