On Saturday a group of 24/7 athletes headed to the County Down village of Castlewellen for the latest instalment of the National Series.
In the beautiful surroundings of Castlewellen park the race kicked off just after 10am in the cold and very choppy waters of the lake.
Aidan Callaghan was first of the 350 athletes to exit the water in 17min 30 sec but was caught on the bike by eventual winner Charles Maltha who put in a blistering effort to open up a gap that could not be closed.
Aidan finished the race in 7th and will be buoyed by this after a disappointing 11th last week in Dublin.
Hugh Gallagher and Pauric Kelly continued their development and raced well having a terrific battle with Hugh catching and passing Pauric on the run with only 30 seconds separating the pair at the finish.
Donagh O Sullivan put in a good bike split to finish just outside the top 100, while Paul O Gara, Paul Dilion and Cathal Roarty all had good races with marked improvements on previous outings throughout the year.
