Three’s a crowd! Winner Ivan is congratulated by Teresa and Ciaran
IVAN TONER was first home in the Ballyare 10k – one of Donegal’s toughest runs.
But the big talking point at the finish line at Carr’s of the Diamond was the person who came second.
Teresa McGloin took the runners-up spot…. just ahead of her fiance and future husband Ciaran Doherty.
Friends say the couple are close – well tonight there was just three seconds between them.
“He’ll claim he let me beat him, but that is of course not true,” laughed Teresa afterwards as she set a new women’s record for the course.
Local man Patsy Hegarty’s 32-minute record for the course remains intact for another year.
Patsy McGonagle may have missed the race due to other commitments in Moscow, but he would have been proud of Teresa and his Finn Valley runners.
The Ballyare festival continues until Sunday.
