Club players and management are this week up in arms following the decision by the Donegal Competitions Control Committee (CCC) to move the championship fixtures from the provisional date of September 15th to next weekend.
It is believed several clubs have both players and management that have organised their holidays around these dates and will now either have to cancel these holidays or risk not being involved in championship action for their clubs.
County player Rory Kavanagh booked a holiday on the back of the belief that the games wouldn’t be brought forward and that the quarter finals would still take place on September the 15th, however that is now not the case.
Glenswilly and Kilcar have also expressed their anger that they have to play each other in an U21 clash just five days before they clash in their crunch Senior championship quarter final.
It is believed that the management of the clubs were keen to get the championship played as soon as possible and that is what influenced the CCC to bring the games forward.
But it seems the confusion and lack of communication between both parties has caused fury among club players and management.
The Donegal SFC Quarter-finals schedule is as follows,
Saturday August 17th , 6.30pm
St. Eunan’s V Malin – Venue – The Scarvey Buncrana
