GARDAI are tonight warning motorists across County Donegal to drive with extreme caution after a deluge of rain hit many parts of the county earlier today.
Roads have been turned into rivers in many areas following a flash flood warning from forecasters.
Further showers and heavy spells of rain are set to continue into the night.
Our main picture shows rain pouring from the Diamond in Donegal Town towards the Quay.
Earlier the downpours sent rainwater cascading down the main road from Glencar in Letterkenny and in Gaoth Dobhair rainwater affected the Gallagher’s supermarket complex.
Road conditions in Lifford are also described as dangerous.
Met Eireann and the Road Safety Authority of Ireland says the flooding is causing difficulties in many parts of the county.
“There are dangerous driving conditions in many areas of Donegal and we would urge motorists only to travel if necessary and if they are travelling to slow down to suit the conditions,” said a Garda spokesman.
