Commiserations to our county team and management in the Ulster final defeat on Sunday in Clones. Things now take a different direction with a round four qualifier against Laois in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday (27th July),throw in at 5:00pm with an All-Ireland Quarter Final place the prize.
We are delighted to see Neil back in the game and congratulate him on his contribution. We once again wish Michael, Neil and Gary all the best in their next challenge along with the rest of the panel and management.
Early information to hand states that this is an all ticket match, capacity 9,000 approx. so everyone intending to travel, contact our club secretary Sharon by email mcgintysharon@eircom.net immediately with requirements of ticket needed. I suppose we better congratulate our own Monaghan import and say we will allow him to enjoy this one, but remind him that we intend to be around for some bigger dates down the road.
Our minor team are in Championship action this Wednesday(24th July) as they travel to play Milford in the Div.2 Quarter Final 1st leg. Throw in at 7:30 pm in Milford. A very competitive game is anticipated, so all support would be greatly appreciated.
The U-16 team will play Naomh Colmcille Newton in Glen on Friday(26th July) throw in 7:30pm and it is hoped they can bounce back from a defeat against McCumhaills last week.
The Glenswilly 3rds boys had a comfortable win in their opening game of the junior B championship against Moville on Saturday evening(20th July)on a score of 0-16 to 1-03.
The reserve team travelled to the Burn Rd. and came home with a victory over Termon on Friday evening(19th July) on a score of 3-05 to 2-06 in the division 2 league. They remain on top having not lost a game yet this year.
The senior team recorded a victory over Fanad in the semi-final of the Lawrence McGinty memorial tournament on Wednesday evening(17th July) at the Glen.
In a highly entertaining (for various reasons) game the over 40’S of Glen and Termon shared the spoils on a score line of 1-04 each in the Glen on a glorious evening on Tuesday last. With players returning from Scotland and the oils wells of Africa , old friendship were renewed and an enjoyable evening was had by all. Thanks to referee Frankie Doherty and glad to say you never lost it Frankie. Well done to all involved.
Now, don’t forget our ice-cream Sunday this Sunday(28th July) at the Club house in Glenswilly. With loads if ice-cream and a programme of events to keep young and not so young entertained this is date not to miss.
