This game was played in beautiful conditions, although sometimes foggy, at Traigh a Loch on Thursday evening. Drumkeen started the brighter and found themselves one up after thirteen minutes when Conor Carlin ran onto a through ball from Richie Moore and finished expertly with his left foot. Drumkeen continued to dominate the early exchanges and should have been two up but Moore’s effort from eight yards was saved by a wonderful reflex save from Sean Daffan in the Fanad goal. Fanad however soon started to show what they were really made of and finished the last twenty minutes of the first half by far the better side and could have drawn level on forty minutes when Aiden Sweeney ran onto a through ball from Brian McVeigh and turned Seimi Friel easily but his final effort was just off target. Half Time 1-0 to Drumkeen. The second half continued as the first had ended with Fanad playing some wonderful passing moves and they were unlucky not to have got themselves back into the game on a number of occasions. Drumkeen struggled to get to grips with the running and pace of the Fanad side on numerous occasions and should count themselves very lucky to have gotten all three points out of this one. Fanad pushed hard for the equalizer but fell just short in the end up. Drumkeen did hit the post late on from Eunan Kelly and just about held on for all three points. Final Score 1-0 to Drumkeen.

Victory for the Ramelton men in an absorbing encounter played in superb sunshine on an immaculate playing surface at Swilly Park. Swilly went ahead on 12 minutes when delightful skill by Blain Curtis released Kyle Black down the left and he curled in a delightful effort from 15 yards from a difficult angle. It was two on 18 minutes following a superb 25 yard drive by young James Mc Cahill and the inrushing Jordan Toland tapped home after the keeper had parried the shot. Swilly started the game with 8 local lads, showing that the conveyor belt of talent emerging through the youth ranks is working well. Swilly fielded without several first team regulars but the youth lads coming in did very well on the night. Kildrum introduced Sean Ferry, Ronan Coyle and Darren Coyle at the start of the second half but despite heavy pressure and a few close calls the Swilly defence stood firm. A wonderful advertisement for Ulster Senior League football with both teams performing very well. This win propels Swilly back into the top 3 in the league table ahead of Letterkenny on goal difference while it also marks a third league defeat in a row for the St. Johnston men that has seen end to their hopes of a title challenge in 2013.

Letterkenny Rovers striker Darren McElwaine continued his fine goal scoring exploits with a first half brace as Bonagee United were put to the sword at Leckview Park on Sunday afternoon. The home side raced into a 3-0 lead at the interval after the outstanding Kevin McGrath had laid the foundations with the opener. In-form Rovers have now picked up ten points from their last four games. Manager Trevor Scanlon was forced into making several changes from the side which defeated Finn Harps Reserves the previous week with goalkeeper Jason Quinn, Jonathan Minnock, Kieran Gorman, and Kieran Doherty all unavailable. However, Chris Malseed returned to add his experience to the midfield with Aaron Scanlon slotting into left back. Bonagee were without the suspended Aidan McLaughlin. Indeed, it was the visitors who prised out the early chances. Kevin Kelly flashed a close range effort over the crossbar and Paddy O’Loan drilled a shot from 20 yards straight at Shane O’Gara in the Rovers’ goal. But the home side were playing slick, attractive football going forward and broke the deadlock on 20 minutes when Oisin McMemamin’s shot did take a fortuitous deflection into the path of Kevin McGrath whose clever flick beat Darren Smyth from inside the box.Rovers were quick to build on their lead and eight minutes later went 2-0 ahead. Odhran McMacken had another impressive performance wide on the right and his inch perfect cross picked out McElwaine who finished with aplomb. On 42 minutes, McElwaine was shaking his head after uncharacteristically blasting over from close range but he didn’t take long to make amends. On this occasion, Scanlon’s in-swinging corner was headed home by the big No.9 to make it 3-0 at the break.
The second half was a rather low-key affair. Bonagee did breathe some life into their challenge with a blockbuster goal from Gareth Browne rifling past O’Gara from 22 yards out.
However, they were unable to make Rovers sweat on their lead and while the hosts struggled to create many clear cut chances in the second period – Oisin McMenamin drilled a pile driver narrowly wide – they remained in control of the contest.

This game between the two senior clubs in the North West lived up to its billing as they played out a 1-1 draw in hot temperatures in Oakgrove on Wed evening. The home side got off to a great start on 4mins when after good work from McNamee & Ramsey to send young Josh Tracey through to score with ease. Ex Derry player Aaron Harkin shot over from a good position and then first team panelist McCarron headed over the bar on 30mins. On the stroke of half time Shane Barcley scored after good work from McCarron & M Harkin. Both teams had a few half chances in the 2nd Half but to no avail.

Drumkeen played host to a Bonagee side who had beaten them away from home. Drumkeen went into the game looking for a win on the home turf , however the visitors had other ideas, after just eight minutes Reece Short curled an effort after he had cut in from the left wing , the shot took a deflection off Chris Kyle and this knock was enough to throw Michael Gibson in the Drumkeen goal off and it settled in the back of the net. The rest of the first half was an even encounter until a wonder strike on the 30 minute mark from 35 yards which curled and dipped into the top right hand corner made the whole crowd stand up, the goal coming from Ryan Kelly playing at left back.
The second half was very much in Drumkeens hand until completely against the run of play Reece Short got a second after a similar turn in from the left flank. The goal got Bonagee going and with the momentum they snatched a third in the seventy second minute. Drumkeen responded however through second half substitute Gerard Bonner, who ran onto a perfectly weighted ball from Eunan Doherty and slotted the ball past the Bonagee Keeper. Drumkeen pushed hard for the equalizer and after a late corner was delivered by Travis Lafferty it came from Liam McGill who directed the cross into the back of the net. The home side was unlucky not to snatch it in the end but a good point for both teams.
