YOU can already hear people complaining about the weather.
We whinge all year round about the cold, wet and damp weather here in Donegal – and as soon as we get a nice warm spell, some people get very hot under the collar.
But we have some good news for those of you loving it…there’s at least another TEN days of hot and very hot weather ahead, according to the forecasters.
“Temperatures will climb to between the low to high 20’s as high pressure shifts slightly north of Ireland, thus feeding in a warmer, drier and sunnier continental airmass,” said Met Eireann’s Evelyn Cusack.
“The highest temperatures will be in Donegal, the west and the midlands,” she said.
“Long spells of sunshine are expected with no more than moderate easterly breezes. Some mist and fog possibly drifting in to some coastal margins and through the early mornings, but this will tend to be the exception,” she added.
Some forecasters believe the weekend after next may see a ‘breakdown’ in the hot weather….with temperatures ‘dropping’ to around 20c.
Here’s the next few days: Hot on Thursday; starting cloudy in many areas but the cloud will burn off.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Dry with long clear spells. Some mist and fog forming locally in near calm. Another rather close night with temperatures not falling any lower than 11 to 15 degrees Celsius.
FRIDAY: Very warm or hot with unbroken sunshine signalled across most regions. There is however the risk of some low cloud and mist feeding into northern and western fringes. Highest temperatures will range from 22 to 29 degrees Celsius, possibly touching 30, with values peaking across the midlands, west and northwest. Winds will be light easterly, a little fresher near eastern and southern coasts, keeping temperatures in the low to mid 20s at most here.
SATURDAY: Some mist and fog locally to begin. A similar day with wall to wall sunshine across many regions; however it will potentially be a little hazier in parts of the south and west. Highest temperatures will range from 22 to 29 degrees Celsius, values warmest away from southern and eastern counties, so again peaking in the midlands, west and northwest. Winds will be a little fresher overall, but no more than moderate easterly for the main part.
SUNDAY: Some mist and fog locally to begin. Dry with long spells of sunshine – possibly some high cloud drifting in from the southwest through the day. Temperatures will range from 20 to 28 degrees Celsius; the same temperature distribution as recent days, as the easterly wind is heated all the while from the warm land below, maxima will again occur for the midlands, west and northwest.
