A Buncrana dance group whose oldest member is just 11 have been chosen to represent Ireland at the World Hip Hop Championships.

Studio 47’s hip hop crew ‘The Shufflers’ have been on a winning streak for the last two years.

They have consistently impressed high profile judges and have won four national hip hop championships in a row, beating off crews from around the country.

What is even more impressive is the fact that these youngsters are all between age of 8 and 11!

The Shufflers are Michaella Duffy, Peter Bradley, Lara Jane Doherty, Caitlin McElroy, Niamh Gallagher, Ciara Mc Laughlin, Jordan Arthur and Dan Mc Dermott who have been steered to success by their dedicated dance instructor Elizabeth O’Donnell from Studio 47 Buncrana.

In their first competition four years ago their theme was Frankenstein.

The judges where so impressed with this edgy, spooktacular routine that they not only awarded them first in their category but also first overall, beating out dance crews in the teens and adult categories.

From then on innovative themes for their dances has become their distinguishing appeal with The Shuffler’s going on to win three more competitions with themes such as Snow White and her Seven Dwarfs and The Looney Tunes.

After winning four national competitions they have now progressed to The World Hip Hop Championships in Denmark.

The kids will travel to Denmark in October to represent the whole of Ireland in the 11 and under crew formation category.

But in order for the kids to take this opportunity to represent not only Buncrana and County Donegal but also Ireland they need sponsorship.

If anyone would like to sponsor The Shufflers or can think of any ideas that would help fund their trip please contact Elizabeth on 0862153007.
