Huge congratulations to our Senior footballers who have qualified for the quarter finals of the Donegal Senior Football Championship at the weekend. Our fate was not in our own hands going into the final round of group games, as we required a big win over Cloughaneely and needed St Eunans to defeat N Conaill, but credit to the players who stuck to the task at hand and recorded an emphatic 2-16 to 0-1 win over Cloughaneely. While our result was never in doubt after half time, we were left with a nail biting finale with news that N Conaill had clawed back a 10 point half time defecit to trail by just 3 points and St Eunans were playing most of the 2nd half with 14 men. After 4 long agonising mins of injury time, the result in O Donnell Park was confirmed that St Eunans had held on for a 3 point victory and Malin progress to the last 8 of the competition. To qualify from a group which consisted of both of last seasons finalists is a superb achievement, and testament to the hard work put in by the players and management and backroom staff .
At the time of going to press, it is unclear if we will be in league action at the weekend, supporters are asked to check the club facebook and twitter pages for confirmation of any weekend fixture later in the week.
Our reserve footballers exited the championship on Saturday evening when they went down by 2 points against their Cloughaneely counterparts.
