Donegal boss has been chosen as one of the judges for a €3 million funding scheme for innovative Irish projects in sports, arts, music and food.
The Arthur Guinness Projects will offer funding of between €5,000 and €50,000 to up to 20 projects each year across four years.
McGuinness will be part of a sports team which will be looking for unique ideas in sport in which to invest his team’s cash.
The rest of his team includes Sarah O’Connor, chief executive of the Federation of Irish Sport, broadcaster Matt Cooper, and Rob Hartnett, head of Sport for Business.
The Glenties man joined celebrity chef Dylan McGrath and movie star Chris O’Dowd at the Guinness Storehouse for the launch of the unique scheme.
And he looked perfectly at home on a sofa during a photo shoot for the launch!
Applicants looking to grab Jim’s attention for the cash have been told “Whether you’d like to create a table tennis hang-out spot in your area, have an idea for an app that marries technology and sport, or have a plan to encourage your local community to get out and get fit, we’re looking for exciting projects to run with.”
Applications are now open, with the deadline for this year of August 9th.
The winners will be announced on September 23rd, with some winners being showcased as part of the Arthur’s Day celebrations.
