A host of local sport-stars are set to attend the Donegal Sports Partnership SPORT CAN Conference which will be headlined by former world champion boxer Barry McGuigan.
The conference take place this Saturday, June 29th at the Mount Errigal Hotel starting at 11am.
The aim of the conference is to highlight the importance sport now has in our society.
Among the Special Guests in attendance on the day will be Jason Black, the first Donegal Man to climb Mount Everest, Ciaran Gallagher & Ciaran Coll from Finn Harps FC, Roisin Mc Caffery- Captain of the Dongeal Ladies GAA Team.
Also there will be Paddy Hannigan – Nicky Rackard winning Donegal Hurling Team, Philip Deignan – Irish Olympian and Professional road racing Cyclist & Chantelle Grant, former Chelsea Ladies player & the first female coach at Finn Harps FC.
The keynote speaker will be Barry Mc Guigan (Former Irish Professional Boxer & WBA Featherweight Champion). Other presenters will include Ciaran Ward (London 2012 Irish Olympic Judo Coach), Dr Fergus Heffernan (Neuro-Psychologist & Psychotherapist) & Jason Black. Tommy Martin, Sports Reporter & Presenter with TV3, will MC the event.
Positive Coaching Scotland and Sports Coach UK will deliver mid-conference workshops, detailing the importance of Coach Education. The workshops will provide innovative approaches to coaching, and present practical examples in which clubs can create a positive environment for young people in sport.
