McGinley played Gaelic at youth level for Dublin said he was an avid follower of the Championship. His dad is, of course, a Donegal man
He said he could pick up tips from managers in team sports, including his friend Jim McGuinness, boss of All-Ireland champions Donegal.
Speaking to the BBC at the match yesterday, Paul admitted he has a soft spot for Donegal.
“I was born and raised in Dublin and I played for Dublin but Donegal is always in my heart,” he said.
“That’s where we always went for our summer holidays and we still do.
“My dad is a good friend of Jim McGuinness and I’ve gotten to know him too so we’re big fans of Donegal.”
Paul said he would be asking Jim for advice ahead of the Ryder Cup but he won’t be at Gleneagles in a golf cart!
