GARDAI have appealed for information about this morning’s horrific car crash in which an 18-year-old man lost his life.
The community of Convoy and the wider Donegal community is in mourning following the death of Shane Brolly, a former pupil of St Columba’s Stranorlar.
His twin sister Emma was injured in the incident.
The crash happened between 3.30am and 3.45am on the Glenfin Road, Ballybofey, just 200 yards past the entrance to Jackson’s Hotel.
Traffic Corps Inspector Michael Harrison appealed for witnesses to come forward.
“This is a very tragic and very sad incident,” said Inspector Harrison.
“We know that a number of minibuses were in the area at the time and whilst some witnesses have come forward we would appeal to others to do so,” he said.
A female driver in her 40s was also injured in the crash.
All five people were taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where Mr Brolly was later pronounced dead.
Of the other people involved in the collision, their injuries are described as non life threatening.
The road was closed today for a Forensic collision examination and diversions were put in place.
