Seniors & Reserves
Both teams faced Fanad Gaels on Saturday and it was a successful evening with both teams having good wins. The reserve game was a good contest and a strong first half meant the lads lead by six points at the break. Despite a comeback from the visitors they held on for a good win. Final score: Red Hughs 1-10 Fanad Gaels 1-7. Pauric McMenamin got the crucial goal with Brendan O’Brien and Christopher Bonner in good scoring form and Michael Sweeney also getting a point.
The seniors returned to form in style getting off to a flying start in their game with Martin Bonner finding the net after three minutes. The lads built on this good start and led at the break 1-5 to 0-1. The second half continued in similar fashion with the lads never letting Fanad find a foothold in the game and when Calvin Bradley scored the second goal it put ten points between the sides. The lads won out in the end on a scoreline of 2-8 to 1-3 with Damien Browne, Eugene Browne and Gary Kelly also the scoresheet. An excellent all round team performance from the lads with all the scores bar one coming from play.
Both teams are in championship action this weekend – the seniors are fixed to play Moville at home in the 1st round 1st leg of the Junior ‘A’ this Saturday 29th June at 7.30pm.
