Traffic Corps Inspector Michael Harrison said he wanted to thank responsible drivers attending this weekend’s event.
“I would urge them all to keep driving safey,” he said.
“There have been a number of arrests for dangerous driving since Friday and those people will appear before the courts in due course.
“However the vast majority of rally fans have behaved impeccably and I would urge them to continue to drive safely on Donegal’s roads between now and the end of the race on Sunday.”
Inspector Harrison said there had also been a number of public order arrests, but that these were down on last year.
“The event has been well-run and well-organised. Unfortunately there will be a handful of motorists who do not heed our warnings and we have patrols in several parts of the county to reassure the public,” he said.
