A MAJOR hotel chain has bought the Clanree in Letterkenny.
The Co Donegal hotel is now part of a group which has premises in Dublin and Dubai.
In the capital this includes Dublin’s Regency Hotel.
It’s understood the group paid more than €3M for the premises in Letterkenny from administrators acting on behalf of the banks.
There is said to be ‘considerable relief’ among staff as the buy-out, linking them to a hotel chain and the experience of those businesses.
Meanwhile Ostan na Rossan re-opens today – under a new name.
The Dungloe Coast Hotel will operate 48 rooms with 12 staff.
The hotel closed earlier this year with claims staff hadn’t been paid wages.
The new management team is run by a company called Splash Hospitality which is based in Dublin.
On its website, the company states: “Splash Hospitality provides hotel and hospitality business owners a wealth of hospitality management expertise, gained through years of experience managing commercially focussed, successful hospitality operations.
“Splash Hospitality also specialises in managing hotels, bars and restaurants that are in volatile circumstances hotels in examinership, hotels in receivership on a contract basis on behalf of insolvency practitioners, banks and institutional lenders.”
