Donegal boss Jim McGuinness breathed a heavy sigh of relief after his side turned on the style at MacCumhaill Park today.
The Glenties man said he was delighted that he was able to look to his bench and bring on some quality players who help his side surge on to victory.
He said he had to be pleased after beating a side of the quality of Tyrone.
“You have to be pleased with a win particularly when you win against a quality side like Tyrone.
“They took the battle to us in the middle of the park and the introduction of Martin McElhinney and Ross Wherity gave us options and they fought very hard for the ball,” he said.
McGuinness said he was delighted that his side worked well to combine to score the two goals.
“Every manager in the country is working hard to get scores on the board and I was delighted at how the two goals were worked,” he said.
Although McGuinness is famous for never looking beyond the next game, he did allow himself the pleasure of a distant glance at a third successive Ulster title.
“If we win the next day we can go on to an Ulster final and please God we will,” he added.
