It was a busy weekend this week for the seniors and reserves as both returned to the field following a free weekend.
The reserves were first up on Friday night as they played reigning league and county champions Cloughaneely at home in Pairc Naomh Columba.
The game proved to be one of the most exhillarating and enjoyable games of the season with the lads showing an enourmous amount of steel to claw their way back from 1-10 to 1-03 down early in the second half to win by 3-10 to 1-12, when the final whistle blew. 48 hours later and they were at it again, this time overcoming Inishowen side Buncrana by 1-11 to 0-6, to move a deserved two points clear at the top of the table.
The seniors were up next as they too played host to buncrana on Sunday. Yet again, inspired by an in form Murphy, who kicked 0-9 in this one, they ran out 1-16 to 0-9 winners and restored their 5 point advantage at the top.
Next up for both sides is a derby with Glenfin on Friday the 17th at home. Reserves throw in at 6.30pm while the seniors are in action at 8pm.
A big thanks to everyone who helped set up the very successful club shop for the weekend. Next week the shop will be selling printed Glenswilly gaelic gloves at a cost-friendly price of €12.
The 3rd’s defeated Glenfin on Saturday on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-4. They play Ardara away at 7.30pm on Saturday 18th. The club wishes a speedy recovery to Pauric Bonner who was injured v Glenfin.
The u14 boys lost out their final league game to a strong St.Eunans B side on Monday by 3-8 to 2-6.
The u16 girls play Cloughaneely on Tuesday 14th at 6.15pm in Pairc Naomh Columba.
A poker classic will be held in Wilkins Bar, Churchill in aid of the club on Sunday 9th June at 6pm. Entry is €30 freeze out with regristration of €10 going to the club. refreshments will be served, and all support would be greatly appreciated.
Lotto winning numbers this week were: 5,9,15,20. Match 3 winner Tony Murray, Glenkerragh. Next weeks sellers are Tony Murray and Hugo McConnell. Jackpot stands at €2,300.
The club have received 151 tickets for the Donegal v Tyrone game, and with more than double that number requesting tickets, unfortunately their will be dissapointments when the draw is made.
Finally, a special mention to Danny McDaid, who will have the Aura Leisure Centre running track named in his honour this Saturday the 18th at the Aura centre. A huge day is in store with a large number of world class athletes competing in a range of events on the day. The naming ceremony will commence at 2.30pm.
