Next outing of the Glencar Inn Golf Society will take place at Letterkenny Golf Club, on Sunday 5th May, tee off time 10.30 am.
It will be our first major competition of the season, it will be for the Joe Dorrian Memorial Cup.
Going by the last outing in murvagh, Martin Kelly should be a strong favourite, followed by Liam Sweeney, Liam coming off a good run of form lately with back to back wins in Westport, not ruling out his brother Keiran, (when he gets his swing right) he will be hard to beat on the day.
But there is a lot of dark horses in the field including Liam Collins, on his day he will be hard to catch, Brian Carney our Captain for 2013 will certainly be there to keep a steady ship.
But sadly our friend Tadgh Culbert, who sadly passed away last week after a short illness, we will miss him for his good and funny humour on and off the course, Tadgh would always give good info on how we should have played that shot that never went right, and when the match was over it was back to the club house, where he would go hole for hole to see were we went wrong, there was never a dark moment with Tadgh he was always up beat, nothing ever got him down.
Tadgh himself would never boast about golf (only about Tipperary), he was larger that life, the soul of our society, on behalf of the Glencar Inn Golf Society, we would send our condolences to his wife Hilda, son Andrew and daughter Lisa, and to his brothers and sister, and to so many friends from Letterkenny and surrounding areas, RIP Tadgh you will be sadly missed.
