LETTERKENNY’S second post office will open in a few weeks at the Glencar Shopping Centre, it was confirmed today.
Town councillors from all parties had been campaigning for a second post office for the area because of the enormous pressure on Main Street staff.
Donegal Daily revealed they had won the long campaign earlier this year.
Now after a tendering process, the new post office has been confirmed for Glencar Shopping Centre.
Work will begin shortly on the premises and could be ready to deal with the public within six to eight weeks.
Cllr Ciaran Brogan said today: “We were delighted with the decision by An Post to give the town a second post office.
“It’s great news that the tendering process has already been completed and that Glencar Shopping Centre will be the location.”
