Oldtown native Colm McDaid was the first runner to register on Monday evening at Letterkenny Community Centre for Sunday’s North West 10k.
Colm is pictured with NW 10k committee members Grace Boyle, Bridgeen Doherty and Rosemary Foy.
Up to 3,000 walkers and runners are expected to take part in Sunday’s event with many charities expected to benefit as a result.
The three main charities are the Friends of Letterkenny Hospital, the Donegal Mountain Rescue and Snap (Special Needs Playpark).
The sponsors of this year’s event are Donegal Daily and Brian McCormack Sports.
Walkers and runners are reminded to register early to make sure they get their hands on one of the new-look t-shirts which is included with the race entry.
Although Colm McDaid may be going for a personal best running time, many will be happy just to get around the course.
Among those wlaking the route will be Letterkenny Mayor, Cllr.Dessie Larkin and County Manager Seamus Neely who signed up at County House in Lifford for the event yesterday.
