Carrigans native Natalie McCarron is to receive a civic reception from Donegal County Council today.Natalie McCarron

Natalie created history by becoming the first ever Irish Lady Professional Kickboxing Champion of the World by winning the ISKA Featherweight title. Natalie is an icon in Kickboxing, but is also a loving mother.

She works enthusiastically for charity and has given her life to her sport, having won three world titles in three different weight categories thus far. She gives back to the sport by teaching her skills to the children of Donegal in Carrigans gym each week, providing them and us with a strong, inspirational role model of women in sport.

Natalie will be honoured at a civic reception in the County House Lifford, today at 3.00pm in recognition of her sporting achievements. This Civic Reception will be hosted by the Mayor Cllr. Frank McBrearty Jnr and by the members of Donegal County Council.

The Mayor, elected members and staff of the Council will be joined by the Natalie, her management, trainer Paddy Toland, and invited guests, at this special event that will recognise the wonderful achievements of this Donegal woman in sport.

The Mayor of Donegal Cllr. Frank McBrearty Jnr is delighted to be honouring Natalie for her outstanding achievements at todays civic reception.

“Natalie has reached the highest levels in her chosen sport and it is a great honour for me and the elected members of Donegal County Council to have the opportunity to acknowledge her achievements with this Civic Reception”.

Natalie will be presented with a special scroll marking the occasion of this Civic reception along a specially commissioned piece by well known artist Fiontann Gogarty.
