Letterkenny Garda station is sealed off.
BREAKING NEWS: Letterkenny Garda Station has been sealed off after a suspicious object was found in the vicinity of the building.
It is believed the object was thrown over the wall of the station a short time ago.
It was spotted by a passing member of the Gardai who alerted senior personnel.
The area has been sealed off but and the Defence Forces bomb disposal team are on their way to the scene.
The front of the station has been evacuated and is closed to the public, but staff are continuing to work at the rear of the premises.
A senior Garda spokesman said “It is too early to say what the device is. It is still being examined and the area has been sealed off.
“We cannot say any more at this stage because we simply do not know what the device is.
“From my understanding the object was thrown over the wall and into the vicinity of the station,” he said.
