DD LOCAL: LETTERMACAWARD COMMUNITY NEWS
Thank you from “Playmatters”
“PLAYMATTERS” is a resource which is currently being developed at The Rosses CDP building in Dungloe. The aim of PLAYMATTERS is to provide a safe suitable environment where parents/carers can engage in quality play activities together with their children throughout the week whilst simultaneously accessing information and support from their peers and child care professionals in relation to their children. The service is currently in its infancy but already engages with over 30 families regularly through its Monday morning group “The ArT BoX”. “PLAYMATTERS” would like to thank everyone who helped out and/or took part in its recent fundraisers which raised a total of €347.00. This money will be used to develop the resource. If you have young children and are about the town between 10 – 12 on Mondays please feel free to drop into the ArT BoX for a bit of fun and a cup of tea. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
St Patricks Day Fundraising in Burtonport
The St Patricks Day celebrations in Burtonport – which was organised by a group of local ladies: Roslyn Sharkey from Cruit, Maria Ferry from Tullyillion & Kathleen Boyle, Jackie Nicholas, Donna Dawson and Breege Ward from Keadue, managed to raise a total of €3800 after all outstanding bills for the day have been paid. The committee are therefore delighted to be able to present both the Burtonport Festival Committee and The Local Lifeboat Committee with cheques of €1900 each.
The celebration which goes from strength to strength each year have taken place annually this past eight years and has been supported by both the entire Rosses business community and by ordinary community members alike. This year the crowds were entertained by the local Keadue and Crickamore bands, by two traditional bands “Cundy & Crew” & “Trad Na Nog” , two schools of Irish Dance – Mc Nellis Cunningham/Eilish Boyle & Claire Gallagher schools of dance and the children from Acres national school.
The committee would like to sincerely thank everyone for their continued support and hope that it continues in the years ahead
