As EU Ministers for Finance meet in Dublin Castle on Sat 13th of April, the Campaign against Home and Water Taxes Dun na nGall and Donegal Action Against Austerity say they will be joining campaign groups from accross the state to march on Dublin Castle to protest against the property tax.
They say this National Protest is an opportunity for “the hundreds of thousands” who are opposed to this tax to come together to show their opposition.
“It is important that Donegal is well represented on the day,” said Joe Murphy from DAAA.
“It is also vital that people in Donegal consider the following recommendations for knocking the Government’s plans for a property tax back.
1. Ignore the Property Tax and Deadlines-A Boycott will help obstruct and undermine this tax.
2. Maximise political pressure on your local Government T.D.s in order to break them from supporting the tax.
3. Get involved in the Campaign by doing what you can, everyone has a part to play.
4. Build a generalised mood of opposition which makes the boycott of the work of collecting this tax or,industrial action in response to deductions a prospect.
5. Begin a discussion on the idea of standing Anti Property Tax and Anti Austerity candidates in the 2014 Local Elections, this would create pressure that sitting politicians could not ignore.
He added: “We appeal to people to people in Donegal who have concerns about the Property Tax to join us and thousands of others on April 13th.This struggle requires more people becoming active in the campaign. For more information on transport to Dublin etc contact -0863122784 or0877097855.”
