What’s On in Cara House?Cara House

French and Irish Grinds

Intensive French and Irish conversation grinds to prepare for Leaving Cert Oral Examinations. Groups will take place for an hour on three evenings a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) for the next three weeks. Cost of the courses is €30 in total. Please call 9123986 to book a place.

Letterkenny Wellness Week

As part of Letterkenny Wellness week 2nd – 6th April Cara House invite those who are interested to join their 2-hand Dancers in the Regional Cultural Centre on Wednesday 3rd April at 11am, their Zumba dancers in the Regional Cultural Centre on Friday 5th April at 11am or come to the Market Square on Friday 5th at 11am to join in with the 2-hand dancers who weather permitting will be outside at 11am.

Healthy Walking

If you are a person who is out of practice but would like to stroll around the Town Park with company and craic the group meet each Tuesday at 11 at the Education Centre, behind St Conal’s.

Community Art

Calling all artists! This year Cara House is helping Letterkenny Tidy Town’s Committee to improve the look of the Lower Main Street through painting pictures for the windows of vacant buildings. Come along and meet with Bernie Wilson at 10.30 on Friday 5th April and be a part of the experience. Teenagers welcome!

Men from the Helping Hands Group are also going to paint doors etc. if you would like to help them. Painting the railings at St Conal’s and the General Hospital has been delayed due to the weather but volunteers to help will be welcomed.

Saturday 6th April

There will be fun and games for younger children in the park from 11 – 1 with Sandra and the childcare team, races, egg rolling egg decorating, face painting etc. Come along and join the fun!

Child Protection Training

On Thursday 4th 2 – 6pm and Friday 5th April 10 – 3pm Child Protection Training will be held in Cara Children’s Centre. This is a certified course.

After School Clubs

Names are now being taken for the After School (5-8 years) and ‘Homework Plus’ Club (9 – 12 years) in September.

Healthy Gardening

A Healthy Gardening course is starting on 26th March at 2pm. The course will include gardening in a small space, with cookery and bee-keeping after the gardening. The course will take place between Cara House and Letterkenny Community Garden. Call to book

Personal Development

Names are now being taken for a two session personal development course to be held end of April (daytime)

Flower Arranging

Will also take place late April / May

Other on-going adult courses in Cara House

Arts and Crafts, Chairobics and Driver Theory Preparation, French conversation for adults on Mondays; Circle Dancing, Tuesdays; Dressmaking, Wednesdays; Art for Relaxation and Irish conversation for adults, Thursdays

Call into Cara House if you are on your own, meet new people, make new friends. If you walk to Cara House we can leave you home before 4 within the town. Free tea and coffee

Come for Lunch!

An excellent 3 course lunch each weekday is served 12 – 1.30pm for just €5. Or we can deliver within the town free of charge. Ring before 12 to order.

Red Door Youth Café

Teenagers! Drop in to the Red Door Youth Café at lunchtimes or after school. Open to 6pm Mondays – Thursdays, 8pm on Fridays

Courses for Young People

The Saturday CoderDojo Club for 10 – 16 year olds will resume on Saturday 6th April.

Art for 5th and 6th Class pupils also resumes 6th April – not suitable for under 10s

Irish and Maths for Junior and Leaving Cert students resumes Monday 8th and Wednesday 10th April

Guitar Lessons resume Tuesday 9th and a new class Wednesday 10th for beginners

Details of the Summer Schemes available soon!

Cara House will be closed for Easter on Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Monday. Open weekdays 9.30 – 4pm, 10.30 – 4 Saturdays from 2nd April.
