Congratulations: It was a busy week for a number of members of CLG Bun Cranncha who, like Senior Footballer Ryan Bradley, represented their county. Well done to Manager Tom Clare and the following members of his Donegal Minor Hurling squad who competed in the Ulster League this weekend; Conor Grant (Captain), Stephen Nelson, Daniel Wilson, Donal Óg MacLochlainn, Jack O’Loughlin, Tom Clare, Daren Doherty Roe, Sam Doherty Roe and Paul Nelson.
Congratulations to Abaigh Stokes and Emer Clerkin who began their county careers on Saturday in Convoy against Derry in the first round of the Ulster League.
Well done to Darach O’Connor who played a huge part in Donegal Under 21s excellent victory over Tyrone in Omagh last week. They now progress to face Derry in the Ulster semi-final on Wednesday 3rd April.
Congratulations also to coach Gary Duffy and players Peter McLaughlin, Darrach O’Connor, Bruce Waldron and John Campbell who are all part of the Donegal Minor squad who played Fermanagh in Brewster Park in the first round of the Ulster Minor League last week.
Annual Dinner Dance: Just a few days remain until our annual celebration which will take place on Saturday 30th March in the Inishowen Gateway. All-Ireland winner Ryan Bradley will be in attendance, accompanied by Sam Maguire & the Liam McCarthy cups. It is sure to be a great night, which is open to all. Tickets priced at €25 are available from club members.
St. Patrick’s Day: A big thank you to all who helped in preparing the float for St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Thanks to A&N Fuels for the use of their lorry and to all who decorated and helped with the children, in particular the directors of operations Seamus and Pauline Grant. To Terry Tedstone, Sean Porter, Michael O’Toole, Denis Deery, and Peter Cloherty who made the “stick men” replicas of some members of the County Senior Team, including our own Ryan Bradley. Our float was awarded overall winner so congratulations to you all and thanks for all the hard work. The evening of culture was well attended and the club would like to thank Donna Elliott and Cathy Hegarty for bringing along their dancers, as well as the Inch and Cockhill Céile Dancers. Thanks also to Lauryn Mulholland for her excellent singing.
Senior and Reserve Football: After a solid pre-season and an unbeaten run in the Ulster Intermediate League, our Senior and Reserve sides will begin the 2013 Division 2 League at the Scarvey on Good Friday, when they will face 2011 County Senior Champions Glenswilly. A large crowd is expected at the Scarvey to witness a game which will be an excellent test for Buncrana, against a side that includes All-Stars Michael Murphy and Neil Gallagher. Throw-in times are yet to be finalised. Training continues Tuesday evening at 7:30pm.
Girls Football: Girls football training is on Monday night at 7.00pm sharp. Open to all girls from the ages of 9 to 16 years of age. New players are also welcome. Please bring your own water bottle.
U5 and U6 Gaelic Games: Under 5s and 6s sessions continues on Saturday mornings at 11.15am sharp in Crana College. The sessions are based on GAA Fundamentals; a Croke Park initiative based on European wide research aimed at bettering your child’s coordination (including hand eye) balance, agility and basic fitness in a fun filled environment.
U8 Hurling: U8 Hurling will continue on Wednesdays at 5.30-6.30pm in Crana College. Newcomers are always welcome to come along and learn the basic skills of Hurling in a fun, safe environment.
U8 Football: U8 Football will continue on Friday at 6.30pm, new members are always welcome.
U9 Football: U9 Football (for children born in 2004) is on every Thursday in Crana College from 7pm-8pm. New players are always welcome.
U12 Football: The training times are as follows: Tuesday 7.00-8.00pm and Friday 7.00-8.30pm. Mouthguards are now compulsory for all training as well as matches. Newcomers are always welcome to come along and learn the basic skills of Gaelic football in a fun, safe environment.
Stewards: Anyone who is interested in stewarding matches in MacCumhaill Pairc is asked to email club secretary Grainne McCarron secretary.buncrana.donegal@gaa.ie.
